Frequently Asked Questions About 1KW Solar Packages
The 1.1kW and 1.65kW kits produce roughly 4,500 to 7,400 watt-hours per day depending on location. That covers LED lighting, a small refrigerator, phone and laptop charging, a TV, fans, and light tool use. Not suitable for central AC, electric water heaters, or high-draw well pumps.
Batteries are not included in the base kits. For a 2.5–3 kWh daily load, plan for at least 5–6 kWh of usable battery capacity. Lithium (LiFePO4) is recommended over lead-acid — it delivers 80–95% usable capacity versus ~50% for lead-acid.
Winter production drops due to fewer daily sun hours. In the Midwest, peak sun hours can fall from 4.5 in summer to around 2.5–3 in December. Generator backup is recommended for northern winters. The inverter/charger includes an AC input port so a standard generator plugs straight in.
A homeowner with basic wiring experience can handle this install. Components are pre-matched and each kit ships with an installation manual. Permit requirements vary by county and state — if the system connects to a structure's wiring, expect to pull a permit in most areas.
Yes, and it's built for it. The 3kW inverter/charger has a 6,000-watt surge rating and capacity well beyond what a 1kW array demands. The most common upgrade path is adding battery capacity first, then adding panels to charge the larger bank faster.
