At this power level, two inverters are used to provide the output a larger off-grid home may need. Two Sol-Ark 18K units operating together deliver 36,000W of combined continuous output and up to 72,000W of combined surge capacity for 10 seconds.
This gives the system enough capacity to support multiple large loads at the same time, including central HVAC, well pumps, workshop equipment, and other demanding 240V circuits.
The dual-inverter configuration also adds redundancy. If one inverter ever requires service, the other may continue supporting essential loads while the issue is addressed, depending on the system configuration.
The packages include an AC combiner box designed for pairing the Sol-Ark units, helping keep the wiring organized and simplifying the final installation.
The 20 kW array is estimated to produce around 89,100 Wh per day. What kind of home or property needs that much output?
A property using approximately 2,670 kWh per month is powering more than basic household loads. This may include a larger home with central HVAC, a well pump, full kitchen, multiple mini-splits, a home office, and additional workshop, barn, or agricultural loads.
It could also be a smaller home in a northern climate where electric heating or longer winter conditions increase energy demand.
A 20 kW system becomes especially useful when the goal is to cover daily consumption while also recharging a large battery bank quickly without relying heavily on a generator.
With 36 panels and 19.8 kW of installed solar capacity, the system can produce additional energy on strong solar days, helping refill batteries faster and create a larger reserve before cloudy periods. These kits only offer the OMO Freedom Series battery. Why is the OMO Stack not available, and what does the Freedom Series provide at this scale?
At 20 kW of solar with two Sol-Ark 18K inverters, the system benefits from a large-format battery designed to handle high charging and discharging currents.
Each OMO Freedom Series battery provides 32 kWh of storage and is built to support the high-current operation associated with large solar arrays and dual-inverter systems. This avoids the complexity of creating a large battery bank from numerous smaller modules.
The OMO Stack is well suited to smaller systems where customers want to add capacity gradually in smaller increments. At this scale, the Freedom Series provides capacity in larger 32 kWh blocks that better match the system's power throughput.
Two Freedom Series batteries provide 64 kWh of storage, while three provide 96 kWh. Depending on household consumption and load management, that can provide approximately one to several days of useful autonomy, with a generator supporting the system during extended cloudy periods.
The kit includes two solar combiner boxes and an AC combiner box. What does all that equipment do?
With 36 panels and 19.8 kW of solar capacity, the array is divided into multiple strings. Each solar combiner box collects the output from a group of panel strings, provides overcurrent protection for each string, and sends a single DC feed to its corresponding Sol-Ark inverter.
Because the system uses two inverters, two solar combiner boxes allow each inverter to manage its own independent portion of the solar array.
The AC combiner box joins the output of both inverters into a single AC feed for the home's load center. Without it, the installation would have two separate AC outputs that would need to be managed and balanced independently.
The included AC combiner kit is designed specifically for paired Sol-Ark inverters, helping create a cleaner, more organized, and code-conscious installation for the electrician completing the final connections.
Who is The Ultimate 20 kW kit built for?
The Ultimate is designed for buyers who want a highly complete off-grid power system for a permanent primary residence or other property where reliability is a major priority.
In addition to the solar array, dual Sol-Ark inverters, and Freedom Series battery storage, it includes a Kubota generator intended for regular, long-term backup operation. For a home using around 2,670 kWh per month in a northern or frequently cloudy climate, a dependable generator can be an important part of the system design.
The package also includes an EMP Shield, which is designed to help protect the inverters, batteries, and connected electronics from severe electrical transients and electromagnetic events.
This configuration is best suited for remote homes, high-demand properties, and customers who cannot easily tolerate extended downtime and want the major system components specified together from the beginning.
