Once the battery bank reaches its target charge level, the Sol-Ark 18K inverters reduce solar production to match the property's active electrical demand. The unused solar potential does not damage the system. The array simply produces less than its maximum available output until more energy is needed.
This type of power management is normal in a properly designed off-grid or hybrid system. The inverters continuously balance solar production, battery charging, and active household or property loads.

I already own a generator. Can it integrate with a 30 kW system, and does generator size matter?
Yes. The Sol-Ark 18K includes a dedicated generator input and can be configured to use a compatible generator for battery charging and load support.
Depending on the generator and system configuration, the inverters can be programmed to request generator operation when the battery state of charge falls below a selected threshold. The generator can then support active loads, recharge the battery bank to a target level, and shut down when backup power is no longer needed.
Generator size matters because it must be able to support the requested charging power and any household or property loads operating at the same time. A generator that is too small may charge the battery bank slowly, overload under combined demand, or fail to provide the expected backup performance.
A generator in the 12 to 20 kW range may be a practical starting point for many systems in this class, but the correct size depends on battery capacity, charging settings, peak loads, fuel type, voltage, and generator specifications.
